Getting a US driver's license on E-3?
What documents do you need for a CA driver's license on an E-3? The DMV website is confusing.

Done this! You need: passport, E-3 visa stamp, I-94 printout (get it from i94.cbp.dhs.gov), proof of CA address (utility bill or lease), and your Australian/NZ license. Book a DMV appointment — don't walk in.
Olivia — do you need to do a written test? I've heard it depends on how long you've had your overseas license.
The DMV app is genuinely terrible for booking. Use a third-party site like DMV.com or just keep refreshing the official site at 8am — cancellations come up.
Also: bring more documents than you think you need. The DMV will reject you for the smallest thing. I brought 6 forms of ID and they still asked for something else.
